Our First Mustang – Faith

We adopted a 5 month old weanling filly on Sept 25, 2009. We were able to walk right up to her after a couple of hours, and rub our hands all over her and down to her hoofs.

She is my wife’s horse and she named her “Faith”, because she has always had the faith that she would own a horse she could ride. We have always raised miniature horses, because we didn’t think we could afford a large horse.

Adoption Tomorrow and Sat in Pauls Valley, OK

The National Adoption starts tomorrow in Pauls Valley, OK and goes through Saturday. More horses need to be adopted, but only by people that are committed and love horses. We do not want someone to adopt a horse and then neglect them later.

A visit to the Pauls Valley Adoption Center – Sept 8, 2009

We went to the adoption Tuesday, but no one showed up to adopt any of the beautiful wild horses that they have for adoption.  My wife and I wanted to adopt one, but we don’t have a barn and corral built yet.  If everything goes well, we will adopt one in the next 6 months.  My wife and I fell in love with a mare she named “Rose”, because she had a pink tint to her hair.

We sure wished that we would have had a barn and corral, so we could have brought “Rose” home with us.  They are begging people to adopt these horses.

When we talk about wild horses, we don’t mean that they are mean, just that they haven’t been around humans.  A horse that has run on the range and hasn’t been around humans are strong, smart, and incredably loyal to anyone they bond to.  They learn quick and love to please you.  They are easier to work with than most domestic horses.

As soon as finances allow, we will have two of them in our corrals.  Everyone that loves horses should look at adopting a wild horse, they will take your heart.

National Adoption Day is Sept 25 & 26, 2009

Adoption

If you have enough space to build a 20′ x 20′ corral with shelter, and a little more space for them to graze on after you get them gentled and you would love and care for them, you can adopt a wild horse for $125.

The Wild Mustangs are very smart and after you get their trust, you can gentle and train them within a few months, depending on the age of the horse and the amount of skills you have with horses.

Start reading about the wild mustangs and see if it is something you would be interested in.  Don’t adopt a wild mustang if you are not devoted to caring and loving them, they have been abused enough by capturing and taking them out of their homeland that they roam free on.

Adopting a Wild Mustang

My Dream is to be able to adopt 2 wild mustangs in the next year for myself and my wife.  Then I would like to adopt more as time goes on and gentle them to locate with good people that will love and care for them.

I don’t want to get into working with them and locating good homes for money, but I want to do it to help save as many of them as I can.

There will be a National Adoption Day Sept 26, 2009

Welcome

We will be talking about wild mustangs and how polititions are trying to kill 30,000 of them to reduce the herd.

All horse lovers should think about adopting as many as you can love and take care of.

I will be posting information of other websites for you to look at and read about how individuals and organizations need your help to get Congress and the Bureau of Land Management to work out a way to save the wild horses.

I really appreciate Madeleine Pickens (wife of billionaire Boone Pickens) for fighting to save the wild horses.  She needs everyone that will, to visit her website and sign a petition to save the horses, even if you can’t adopt one.
