George Stringer - 2009 DOB 12/17/1945

I am 63 years old, married to Retha, and we have 6 children and 15 grandchildren, 2 foster grandchildren, and 1 we have adopted as a grandchild (the only grandparents he knows).  We live in Newalla, OK on 11 acres close to Wes Watkins Reservoir.

Retha and I love horses and have raised miniature horses for the last 3 years.  We are very interested in the wild mustangs (horses) that can be adopted from the Bureau of Land Management for $125 each.  Retha cleaned horse stalls when she was a teenager, so she could ride them, so her love for horses has always been there.  I have always wanted a horse, but lived in the big city, where we didn't have enough room to have any horses (not counting against city ordinances), but still thought about them.

I have been reading everything that I can about the wild horses of America and all of the people that are working on trying to save them.  You can check out some of the people on my website.

My plans are to work on removing some trees, leveling our acreage, fencing, building corrals and shelter, a barn, and adopting 2 wild mustangs.

My dream is to be able to have 2 mustangs for enjoyment for Retha, our grandchildren, and myself.  Then I would like to be able to adopt up to 4 a year to gentle and train, just to locate a good family that loves horses and make it possible for more children to enjoy the wild horses.  I want to do everything I can do to save as many of the wild horses as I can.  Also I want to promote the Wild Horse and Burro adoption program in my area and on the internet as much as I can.

They say if you dream, dream big, so I am dreaming that for the next 15 to 20 years that I can make a difference in the lives of a lot of families and children through the wild horse program.  My dream started 31 years ago, but put aside because I listened to friends, family and other people that thought it was something that would cost more than it was worth.

In 1988, we were leaving for vacation and after 1 hour of traveling, we were in an auto accident that killed my wife.

In 1992, I remarried and my wife always talked about how much she loved horses and would like to have one, but I never shared my dreams with her, for fear of rejection.  We purchased 2 miniature horses in 2006, but I knew that my wife would like to have a horse she could ride, so I have really been thinking about my dream again the last couple of years.  I told my wife that I would like to adopt 2 of the mustangs and work with them and she said she would like that too.

I have made a lot of bad decisions in my lifetime, so I am living on Social Security (without any retirement) and my wife's salary (she is 10 years younger than I am).  But I have decided to go back to work 3 days a week to be able to adopt the wild horses and get started working with them.

I have decided it is time to take action on my dream and enjoy the rest of my life, thanks to the backing of my wife.  Retha has always backed me in anything I wanted to try, even if I failed she never gives up on me.

Thank you for visiting my website and come back soon.
